Course Description

Who is the course for?

This Subsea Infrastructure Decommissioning Training course is aimed at all personnel employed on oil and gas facilities. This Facilities Decommissioning Training course is aimed at individuals who will be involved in decommissioning projects, or have a need to understand the process. This Permanent Well Abandonment Training course is aimed at individuals who will be involved in decommissioning projects, or have a need to understand the process.

Is previous experience required?

You do not need prior knowledge or experience to complete this course, and it is assumed that you are competent in your designated role.

How will the course benefit me?

This course is intended to ensure all personnel are familiar with the regulations, environmental considerations, engineering methods and safety protocols required for decommissioning projects. The knowledge gained in this course will assist participants in planning facilities decommissioning activities and selecting the most suitable options for preparation and removal. The knowledge gained in this course will help you to plan decommissioning and dismantlement activities with a good understanding of the risks and challenges involved.

How will the course benefit my company?

This course will provide insights into engineering methodologies, project management techniques and best industry practices required for decommissioning projects. By having a comprehensive understanding of the factors to be considered when decommissioning the topsides and substructure, individuals can contribute to ensuring that their company's decommissioning projects are delivered effectively, from both a time and cost perspective. By ensuring you are fully aware of the factors to be considered during well plugging and abandonment, you can contribute to the successful and effective delivery of this costly and technically challenging part of the decommissioning process.

What standards are referenced in the course?

United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS)

REACH Enforcement Regulations 2008

Offshore Petroleum Regulator for Environment and Decommissioning (OPRED)

Offshore Chemicals Regulations 2002

Is there an assessment?

Once you have completed the course, you will be asked a series of questions to check your knowledge and understanding. These are based

on the learning objectives for the course and have a pass mark of 80%.
